Commercial Finance Analyst Permanent / Full Time

The Commercial Finance Analyst plays a pivotal role in supporting strategic decision making and driving financial performance with the organisation through analysing financial data, market trends, revenue optimisation, pricing strategies, cost control and SKU profitability. This role will be responsible for owning the Profit & Loss from Sales to Gross Margin including product costs.

As part of the commercial team key responsibilities will include:

• Provide detailed sales analysis on SKU performance.
• Support Commercial Manager and CFO with analysis of NPD launches.
• Present insights and recommendations to enhance portfolio profitability, optimal mix strategy and tail management.
• Analyse the profitability of products and customers to identify opportunities for margin enhancement and cost optimization.
• Monitor and analyse key performance indicators (KPIs) related to commercial activities, track performance against targets and identify areas for improvement.
• Evaluate pricing strategies to maximize profitability and assist with building pack price architecture and product cost composition.
• Co-ordinate the development of the annual sales forecast through engagement with the Commercial Manager and operational teams.
• Prepare and analyse the monthly sales forecast and critically assess business capacity to achieve results.
• Develop financial models to support business cases, investment decisions, and pricing negotiations.
• Evaluate the financial impact of proposed initiatives and assess their feasibility including ROI through detailed product costings for potential and current SKUs.
• Assist with preparation of monthly Board Pack for the Commercial Manager & CFO, providing commentary on results.
• Actively participate in customer meetings as required to discuss portfolio performance, progress to Joint Business Plan KPI’s/initiatives and internal/external cost impacts.
• Prepare accurate daily, weekly and monthly sales reports, including analysis of variance to budget / forecasts and reconciliation to General Ledger.
• Prepare and present monthly SKU Contribution Model.
• Prepare presentation material for the Commercial Manager to support meetings with key customers such as scan performance and store compliance.
• Develop and maintain PowerBi reporting suite, such that information is more readily obtainable to key stakeholders.

Key attributes and qualifications:

• Qualified CPA/CA with at least 2 years in a similar role preferably in FMCG.
• A self starter who can display innovation in previous roles.
• Results focussed team player always looking for ways to contribute and improve.
• Clear and concise communicator who can present at all levels.
