An established national transport and warehousing company is seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join their team.

Reporting directly to the CFO, this role will take ownership of end-to-end payroll processing across a multi-site workforce. This is an excellent opportunity for a payroll professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment and has experience interpreting complex awards and payroll conditions.

This position will suit someone who thrives on accuracy, enjoys problem solving and takes pride in delivering a high-quality payroll service to employees and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Processing accurate and timely weekly payroll across multiple operational sites
  • Interpreting and applying awards, overtime, allowances, penalties and shift arrangements
  • Managing employee records, payroll adjustments, leave processing and timesheets
  • Ensuring compliance with STP, superannuation, PAYG and payroll legislation
  • Responding to payroll queries from employees and managers
  • Preparing payroll reconciliations, reporting and variance analysis
  • Assisting with payroll audits, compliance activities and process improvements
  • Manage workers’ compensation claims from commencement through to resolution
  • Ensure compliance with workers’ compensation legislation and requirements
  • Maintain accurate claim records and documentation
  • Liaise with employees, medical practitioners, and stakeholders
  • Maintaining confidentiality and strong data integrity standards

About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

  • Minimum 5 years’ payroll experience in a high-volume environment
  • Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance
  • Experience interpreting complex awards, ideally within transport, logistics or warehousing
  • Advanced payroll systems experience and strong Excel capability
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
  • A proactive and solutions-focused approach
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Experience with Freight2020 or similar payroll systems will be highly regarded.
