Field Service Technician – Rebar & Steel Machinery

Our client is Australia’s leading provider of rebar and steel bending machinery, proudly Australian-owned and operated since 2005. With a strong reputation for excellence, they specialise in machinery installation, servicing, maintenance, and spare parts distribution across Australia and New Zealand.
Due to consistent growth over the past 15+ years, an exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Field Service Technician to join their dynamic team. You’ll play a key role in installing and commissioning state-of-the-art machinery, delivering outstanding technical support and customer service.
About the Role:
Working both independently and within a supportive team, your key responsibilities will include:
- Installing and commissioning new steel and bar bending machines
- Training operators on safe and effective machine use
- Conducting fault finding, machine cleaning, repairs, and rebuilds
- Writing detailed service reports and recommending future maintenance or parts
- Maintaining clear communication with clients and internal stakeholders
What We’re Looking For:
We’re seeking a self-motivated individual with a background in manufacturing or as a field technician, ideally with experience in mechanical, electrical or hydraulic systems.
You will also need to demonstrate:
- Willingness and flexibility to travel for up to 12+ days at a time
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Proven mechanical aptitude and hands-on repair experience
- A strong commitment to customer service
- Excellent communication and personal presentation
- A proactive approach to promoting service and parts sales
Initial training will be provided at the Melbourne head office and through shadowing experienced technicians at local installations.
